Changes to Bore Water Trusts Meeting

Changes to Bore Water Trusts Meeting

Mon 22 Jul 2024, 1:00 AM - 4:00 AM

When: Monday 22nd July 2024

Where: Narrabri RSL

Time: 10:30am for 11am start, until 1pm

On 1 March 2024, the Water Management Amendment Act 2010 for joint private works schemes started. As a result, the parts of the Water Management Act 2000 that deal with bore water trusts have changed.

What has changed?

As a result of the reforms, bore water trusts as we know them no longer exist. Come to hear the changes directly from Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water representatives.

All members of all Bore Water Trusts in NSW are urged to attend – this affects you!

This meeting is for everyone, both ABWUA members and non-members.

For more information go to www.abwua.com.au. If you are not on our mailing list and would like to be go to www.abwua.com.au and click the link in the meeting notice on the front page.

RSVP: by 17th July for catering

This meeting is very important to ALL members of ALL Bore Water Trusts in NSW.

  1. All members, not just trustees, need to find out what changes have been made to our Trusts. All trusts need to decide if they remain a ‘trust’ (which is a totally new entity) or if they change to a corporation (also a new entity). Both these new options are totally different and will affect all current Trust members. The Department currently calls Trusts Joint Private Works Schemes.
  2. The Department needs to see that we are engaged in what changes they have already made to our water and more importantly in any further changes they propose into the future. The Great Artesian Basin is probably the only water source in NSW that is not already metered and that users pay for. With recent changes to non-urban water metering rules and a current review into domestic and stock rights we need to show the Department we do care about our water.

Please come and be counted.
