In 1933, Norman Moody started a small automotive engineering and repair shop in Coonamble, six and a half hours from Sydney, eight from Brisbane and one and a half from Dubbo.
Travel in those days meant that vehicles did it hard on the local roads – repair customers were never in short supply. Business was brisk as the area grew with wheat, sheep and cattle farming. His son Ken joined the team as a "grease monkey" in 1951, becoming DP in 1965. In 1983 his son Scott started his stint as "grease monkey" eventually taking the reins when Ken retired in 2003.
Today, Moodys Motors provides all mechanical aspects of car, truck and trailer repairs and maintenance plus air conditioning repairs and re-gassing.
Their workshop at 37 Aberford Street is just on the western side of the Sir Edward Hallstrom Bridge on the Castlereagh Highway.
Scott carries a full range of:
· truck and trailer spares
· belts, filters, oils, batteries
· LED lights
· air and cordless tools
