An exciting new role for an experienced, proactive and engaged Aboriginal Health Practitioner has recently been added to our clinical healthcare team at the Bogan Shire Medical Centre. This a great opportunity to provide local, responsive and dedicated primary healthcare support for our community’s First Nations peoples, recognising whole-life-view, traditional knowledge and connection to country.
We are looking for someone who can collaborate with our clinical team, allied health providers, and agencies to deliver culturally safe and accessible clinical and primary healthcare services to First Nations peoples including acting as a link to other healthcare services.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, empathy, a strong understanding of current and emerging health issues facing First Nations peoples. You will be able to engage and consult with the Aboriginal community, building trusted community connections and relationships to deliver patient-centred holistic care, encouraging active collaboration and shared decision-making, enabling an increase in access to health treatment and prevention services and improved health outcomes of First Nations peoples.
The ideal applicant will be able to promote awareness and prevention of chronic disease, develop and implement care plans, undertake community engagement including providing health education and promotional activities, and advocate for the cultural and health needs of Aboriginal patients.
Conditions
This position is an externally funded role. The position will be reviewed annually to determine continuation of employment after 12 months.
Salary Benefits
• Remuneration at Grade 5 of Council’s salary system ($1,356.79 - $1,515.12 per week)
