Working as part of the Environmental Services division, this role will see the successful candidate be responsible for delivering the highest levels of customer service across all areas of responsibility and ensuring adherence to all council policies and procedures. Strong time management and communication will enable you to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner. 


Reporting to the Director of Environmental Services, the key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited 

  • Assessing Complying Development Certificate, Development, Construction Certificate and Activity applications.
  • Conducting inspections in accordance with the relevant legislation to ensure Council fulfils its obligations to the Building regulations functions.
  • Investigation and follow-up of complaints regarding unauthorised work, pollution, derelict premises, food safety, swimming pools and matters related to the Environmental Services Division.
  • Preparing, issuing and contributing to planning certificates, including outstanding notices.
  • Issuing notices, orders and infringements in accordance with delegations issued by Council.
  • Conducting ongoing swimming pool compliance auditing and monitoring.
  • Approving, monitoring, auditing and conducting surveillance of wastewater and on-site sewerage management systems.


With a degree or Diploma in Building Surveying, you will also be eligible for accreditation by the Building Professionals Board at level A2 restricted, the ability to undertake mandatory inspections on Class 1 and 10 buildings. 

Remuneration $89,000 - $121,064.00 per annum, subject to experience and qualifications. 

A Motor vehicle for work/private use (Lease back arrangement) and subsidised housing (FBT exempt, remote housing) is offered with this position.
