 Council invites applications for the of position of Town Planner to join the Environmental Services Department.

This permanent full time position reports directly to the Director of Environmental Services at Walgett. Responsibilities will include providing efficient development assessment services, providing prompt and professional guidance to applicants, Council and Government agencies on town planning related matters.


Preferred applicants should possess tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning or related field, excellent written and oral communication skills, proficiency with software such as GIS Software, MS Suite, knowledge of land use planning related skills and a current class C drivers licence.



he successful applicant will be offered assistance with subsidised housing.

Walgett Shire Council is a local government on the border of New South Wales and Queensland that provides services to Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri and the surrounding rural areas. The Shire covers an area of 22,000 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 6,000.
