Walgett Shire Council is entering an exciting period of internal growth and transformation, and we are seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety Specialist (Job No. WGC192) to join our team.

This is not just a compliance role.

We are looking for a leader who leads by example, consults effectively, and understands the unique challenges of working in the outback.

Your focus will be on uplifting our WHS systems, embedding safety as the number one priority across all operations, and fostering a culture where safety and accountability are integral to everything we do.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Proven experience in implementing Safety Management Systems and fostering a proactive safety culture.
  • Excellent consultation and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and inspire teams.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to improving workplace safety.
  • Understanding of the challenges and opportunities in working in regional or remote areas.
