The Western Plains App is looking for a part-time digital journalist to create original content focused on the communities we cover across inland NSW. 

We are a small team who publish a local independent news app to serve the 11 local government areas of Bogan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar, Coonamble, Gilgandra, Lachlan, Narromine, Walgett, Warren and Warrumbungle (western portion). 

The ideal candidate is an established or up-and-coming journalist who lives in or close to our region, and who can work autonomously.  

You will be expected to produce news stories, community/sports reports and promotional features for publication relating to these local areas.  

The successful applicant will be curious, flexible and self-motivated to find, research and write stories that matter to our local communities. 

Working with the editor, you will have the skills to create stories and celebrate the regions we support through broad and diverse content. 

Hours are negotiable for the right candidate, with around 20 hours the starting point.
