12-year-old faces court in Bourke

A 12-year-old boy faced court today after being charged with breaching bail and aggravated break and enter. 


On Sunday (14 January 2024), five people forced entry into a home on Wortumertie Street in Bourke at around midnight. 


Police were told the group stole a mobile phone and jewellery before fleeing the location on foot. 


Officers attached to Central North Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. 


He was taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal and breach of bail.


The boy was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Tuesday 16 January 2024).


Inquiries are continuing.
