Coonamble police officers have had a busy night on the road following two separate incidents involving stolen vehicles between Monday night and Tuesday morning this week.
Between 10pm on Sunday 17 July and 6.45am yesterday (Monday 18 July), an unknown person stole a silver Volkswagon Golf from a home on Yarrandale Road, Dubbo.
Just before 10pm yesterday, police were patrolling Coonamble and observed the Volkswagon. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver sped off.
A pursuit was initiated before it was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
A few hours later at about 2am today (Tuesday 19 July), an unknown person entered a home on Thurloo Road, Magometon, about 26km south of Coonamble and stole a Toyota Landcrusier Utility.
Officers attached to Coonamble Police Station attended the home and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, officers located the car at around 9am today on Back Gular Road, about 17km east of Coonamble, abandoned, on its side and burnt-out.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District are continuing inquiries into both incidents which, at this stage, are considered to be unrelated, according to police.
