Alleged thief caught with gel blaster in Walgett

A woman has faced court charged over alleged firearm and stealing offences in Walgett.

 

Police allege that a storage container in Fox Street was broken into between 12pm on Monday 3 February 2025 and 6:45am on Tuesday 4 February 2025.

 

The owner of the container reported that a number of power tools had allegedly been stolen.


 

"Following inquiries, officers attached to Central North Police District searched a room at a motel on Fox St, Walgett, where they seized items including power tools, a gel blaster, a NSW Rural Fire Service defibrillator, and housebreaking implements," a police spokesperson said.

 

A 25-year-old woman was arrested at the motel and taken to Walgett Police Station where she was charged with:

  • Face blackened/disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of housebreaking implements
  • Possession of unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm
  • Receiving property-theft-serious indictable offence <$5000 (two counts)
  • Goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen, and
  • Breach of bail.

 

She appeared before Walgett Local Court on Wednesday 5 February 2025, where she was refused bail to appear before the same court on Monday 10 March 2025
