MEMBERS of the Baradine Show committee have welcomed the announcement that they have been successful with two grants.
The Baradine Pastoral, Agricultural and Horticultural (P.A & H) Society has been awarded $2,030 from the latest round of the Volunteer Grants program as well as $1,300 in funding assistance from NSW Office of Sport to purchase an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Baradine P.A & H president, Lauren Harris says that the committee was very pleased with the success of the funding submissions.
“The equipment purchases through the Volunteer Grant will make tasks easier and address some health and safety issues, which in turn will strengthen the capacity of the show committee in all its endeavours to continue to run the annual event despite ongoing challenges,” Mrs Harris said.
“The Baradine Showground is used by a lot of people of all ages and fitness levels for various reasons.
“Having an AED on hand increases the chances of survival from a heart incident.
“Hopefully it will never be needed but having it could save a life and it will provide peace of mind.
“Even though the ambulance is not far away and can be here very quickly, in some situations every minute counts, so it’s very nice to have it as a safety precaution.”
Mrs Harris also acknowledged the showground user groups who also contributed towards this purchase.
“The Baradine Show is delivered entirely by volunteers, but the event can only continue if it is organised and run by contented, happy and safe volunteers,” she said.
She also recognised the government’s assistance in this way and express appreciation to the Baradine & District Progress Association for their ongoing support through the Community Development Coordinator program.
