Within the next two years Collarenebri will see big projects commence to boost local liveability and bring more visitors into the community, including the construction of a new footpath, cycle-way and an artesian hot springs.
Within the Western Plains area Bourke and Coonamble were also on the receiving end of the NSW Government's 'Get NSW Active' grant which seeks to provide locals with more options to get to work, school and explore their local community.
The projects that have been funded include:
Nationals Upper House Member Scott Barrett said the Get NSW Active project promotes more accessible routes that allow for locals and visitors to keep active.
"Keeping Barwon communities active and healthy is the top priority of this project. The construction of cycle ways, footpaths and walking tracks will also showcase the beautiful rivers and natural features within these communities' to visitors."
"We want everyone to have access to all the wonderful things the communities' of Western NSW have to offer, the best way to do that is to get out on foot, or on your bike and take it all in- whilst enjoying the great outdoors," said Mr Barrett.
Constructing more 'active' projects is the key to attracting visitors into the Barwon District, according to Mr Barrett.
"We heavily encourage 'active' and 'healthy' projects as they promote visitors to explore what these small communities have to offer. Making our communities more visitor friendly delivers better connections for locals and an increase in business."
"It will encourage visitors to spend money and promote businesses within these small towns," he said.

In addition to the 'Get NSW Active' project, the Walgett Shire Council has received an additional grant from the Murray Darling Basin for the construction of an artesian hot springs at Collarenebri.
Michael Urquhart, Acting General Manager at Walgett Shire Council says the projects will attract more visitors to the town.
"The construction of the footpath and cycle way will be located near the primitive camping area in Collarenebri."
"It will take locals and visitors from the primitive camping area, near the highway, across the river to the sports ground and into the town centre."
"It will encourage visitors to come into the town centre and allow them to experience the beautiful river view whilst walking or cycling near the foreshore," Mr Urquhart said.
Artesian baths planned for Collarenebri will be similar to the facility in Lighting Ridge.
The footpath and cycle way will also lead to the new artesian hot springs that will start to be constructed at the start of December this year.
"The $1.3 million Artesian Hot Spring project funded by the Murray Darling Basin and Walgett Shire Council will connect to the cycle way and footpath."
"The artesian hot springs will be circular in shape and very similar to Lightning Ridge's Bore Baths. It will also include a park and a BBQ area for locals and visitors to enjoy", Mr Urquhart said.
The Walgett Shire Council has also announced it will fund a $1 million splash park project for the Walgett Memorial swimming pool and an additional 15 netball and tennis court upgrade, which will be located down near the PCYC.
"There are a lot of exciting projects underway within the Walgett Shire Council and we hope this will attract many more visitors to the community within the near future," Mr Urquhart said.
