On Wednesday 5 October the Brewarrina youth got to experience Aerial Arts in the park.
A group of youngsters aged from 8 years and up were excitedly tying themselves up in knots and hanging upside down.
The Gravity is a tour of free school holiday workshops travelling to seven local government areas including Warren, Nyngan, Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett and Coonamble.
The workshops are presented by Outback Arts and designed and delivered by Signal Creative to give outback youth the chance to learn combinations of tricks on Silks and Aerial Hoop and put it to music.
“The workshops have included over 120 youth in the area so far and the response has been so enthusiastic,” said Director of Signal Creative and workshop designer Emma Hoy.
Emma has been delivering all kinds of community arts projects in the region for five years now and she has more than seven years of experience teaching Aerial Arts to young people as well as Yoga, Pilates, and group dance.
Joining Emma on this tour is Aerialist Cher Albrecht.
Originally from California, Cher owns Aerial Sports, a thriving studio in Canberra that offers over 50 classes per week for students aged from 2 years through to adults.
The workshops are made possible with funding from Create NSW.
"It was great to see something unique for the kids to experience and keep them occupied this school holidays," one Brewarrina mum told the Western Plains App.
While this was a one-off workshop for each town these holidays, Signal Creative will be back again soon and will be delivering a fashion design program in Brewarrina.
