Brewarrina gathers to say thanksMichaela Skuthorp and Rebecca Gordon

Brewarrina has shown once again what it can do when organisations and the local community work together.

On Tuesday 29 Novmber the Brewarrina LALC put on a day for everyone to be able to come and show its appreciation to the SES, The Brewarrina Shire and Fire and Rescue for all they have done during the flood and continue to do.

When asking Belinda Boney, Women’s Business Leader why they put on the Community gathering, she stated. “We wanted to thank our frontline workers for making our community safe during this flood by getting all of our services and community together to show our appreciation.”

The day was sponsored by the Minderoo Foundation who provided the BBQ for the day and supported by Mission Australia, The Brewarrina Aboriginal Child and Family Centre, The Brewarrina Hospital, Orana Haven, REDIE and the many locals who helped on the day.

"The community gathering was sponsored by the Minderoo foundation and allowed the opportunity for flood-affected citizens to connect with local businesses and various services to advance their healing and social well-being,"  stated Melissa Kirby, Minderoo.

"The Brewarrina community looks forward to a long-term partnership with the Minderoo Foundation."

Some of the students from the Central School and St Patricks School attended the day and got to participate in a colouring in competition thanks to the Child and Family Centre who had a kids table set up for the day.

“I’d like to thank our Mayor Vivian Slacksmith for supporting the Brewarrina Community by attending all of our community events," Belinda Boney said.

"I also want to thank all the services who got involved and locals who helped on the day.”
