Brewarrina's local RSL Club wants to add to their welcome. A development application by the local RSL Club to lift visitor accommodation in the town goes before Brewarrina Shire Council to its 25 November meeting.
Â
Brewarrina RSL Manager Steve Harding says the travelling community will be able to stay in comfort right alongside the club at 25 Bourke Street.
Â
"We are looking to put six manufactured houses next to the club with double beds and facilities,’’ he said.
Â
He says the small town needs more beds to help build tourism and the local economy.
Â
"The board wants to meet community expectations by lifting the accommodation prospects in our town and this should be a good fit.
Â
"We have some funding for it and we know the area is screaming out for more accommodation so the board believes it will be a big success.’’
Â
Clubs across NSW have used a resort style accommodation to boost revenue with Dubbo and Orange RSL and Ex-Services Clubs boasting large accommodation with high profile Mecure Franchise running the Orange facility.
Â
Mr Harding says the motel style development will bring it an additional revenue stream for the club.
Â
"The model has worked in other areas and brings employment into the town as well."
