Police are appealing for public assistance as part of investigations into a set of car thefts and fires in the west, including Lake Cargelligo.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Ernie Hayes Memorial Drive and Lachlan Valley Way in Lake at around 6:35am on Thursday 22 May following reports of a vehicle fire.
Police say Fire and Rescue NSW personnel extinguished the blaze, but the car was destroyed.
In a second incident between 4.30pm and on Thursday 22 May 2025 and 7am the next day, a silver Toyota Prado was allegedly stolen from a home on Grenfell Street in West Wyalong.
"Police found the vehicle parked on Townsend Street, Lake Cargelligo before being seized for forensic examination," a police spokesperson said.
"Following inquiries, police would like to speak to the owner/occupants of a black Suzuki Swift seen in the area at the time.
"Police established multiple crime scenes and commenced an investigation into the incidents."
No injuries were reported.
Police said they are following a line of inquiry that both incidents are linked.
They are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
