Improvements to Baradine’s Camp Cypress accommodation have received the green light to proceed.

The facility at the Baradine Showground and Racecourse has been awarded more than $279,000 from the NSW Government 2022/2023 Crown Reserves Improvement Fund (CRIF) towards cabin stabilisation, internal repairs, painting and new floor coverings.

The CRIF supports Crown Land Managers by providing funding for repairs, maintenance and improvements on Crown reserves.

Camp Cypress manager and board member, Janet Fitzgerald says the committee is delighted with the funding success.

“This project focusses on addressing building improvements so that we continue to meet the requisite safety, health and accessibility standards to operate as an accommodation facility,” Mrs Fitzgerald said.

“Camp Cypress is the only venue in Baradine to provide accommodation, conferencing and catering facilities for large groups.

"Enhanced, upgraded cabins are essential to bring visitors back into our town following two years of economic downturn during the Covid pandemic," she said.

"The more people we can bring to our community for a longer period of time results in additional revenue for Baradine as a whole.

“We would like to thank the Baradine & District Progress Association for their valued assistance in acquiring this grant through their community economic development coordinator.

Baradine Showground user groups will benefit from all elements of this upgrade project; we hope it helps to give an all-round economic boost.”
