Changed traffic conditions east of BourkeRoad maintenance along the Kamilaroi Highway over the next few weeks will mean new traffic conditions for local motorists.

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Kamilaroi Highway over the next four weeks for road maintenance.

Work began this week on shoulder widening of the road pavement about 22 kilometres east of Bourke to permanently increase the lane width.

Bourke Shire Council is carrying out the work on behalf of Transport for NSW.

For the safety of workers and motorists, singe lane closures and reduced speed limits of 40 km/h and 60 km/h will be in place during work hours.

Work will be caried out between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday and from 7am to 1pm on Saturdays. The work is expected to continue until Friday 15 April, weather permitting.

Motorists should plan their trip, allow up to 10 minutes of extra travel time and follow the directions of traffic control and signs, including reduced speed limits.

Transport for NSW thanks road users for their patience during this time.
