Cobar's first Covid case confirmedCobar sees their first confirmed case as the virus continues to creep around the western region.

Cobar saw its first confirmed case of COVID 19 yesterday (Saturday 27 November) and NSW Health has commenced contact tracing in the area.

Up to 8pm last night there were also 3 further cases identified in the Coonabarabran area, taking the total of that covid cluster to 40.

No further cases have been identified in either Lightning Ridge or Coonamble, after both towns saw a single case emerge on Friday 26 November.

Further east, five more cases were added to the list in the Orange/Cabonne shire areas yesterday.

While stay-at-home orders no longer apply, authorities are urging community members in areas where positive cases have emerged to come forward and get tested.

"We encourage people with NO symptoms to be tested for COVID-19 surveillance," a NSW Health spokesperson said yesterday.

"We strongly encourage everyone to monitor for the onset of symptoms, and if they appear or are already present, please come forward and get tested."

If local residents in these areas have concerns, they can check their Service NSW app history to see if they were checked-in at a venue of concern.

Businesses that have been visited by a person with confirmed case of COVID will be contacted by NSW Health but do not have to close or advise their customers.

The NSW Government will alert customers who attended a business on the relevant day through the Service NSW app and advise them to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested if they feel unwell.
