Condobolin celebrated their homegrown musical talent at a premier 'Live & Local' concert that took place across three great locations on Saturday 28 May.

Musicians from within the Lachlan Shire region, namely Xavier Grinshaw, Chontelle and Mary Dargin, JAM, Gracey Denham Jones, James Sutherland, Adam Kerezsy, Cletis Carr, Clinton Hoy and Clancy Pye were welcomed onto the stage at The Condobolin Community Centre, The Imperial Hotel and The Red Cattle Dog Saloon between 11:00am to 9:00pm.

The performers were a mix of local talent and talent from around the Central West area, with some first time performers in the mix.

Jon Shillito, Lachlan Shire Council’s Director Environment, Tourism, Economic Development said, “it was great to see some local people give live performing a shot and hopefully this leads to them performing again in our local venues. It would be great to see others that have a musical interest decide to give live performing a go in the future."

While Condobolin's Imperial Hotel Manager, Mick Mooney, was slightly disappointed with the turnout, he hopes that the community can see the value in an event such as this.

"The support of the community is what gives these young performers the opportunity and the confidence to perform live – it was so great to see the talent that we have locally and I'd love to see more people show up in support in the future."

The Live and Local Strategic Initiative was designed to support small communities to deliver live music micro-festival events with the aim of supporting the growth of the local live music industry. The event was hosted by the Lachlan Shire Council who worked in partnership with the Live Music Office, APRA AMCOS, as well as Arts OutWest, to bring the event to life. Assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, it's arts funding and advisory body, the event will be followed up with an encore performance.

The Condo Live and Local Encore "Sunday Sesh" is coming up soon and will again include local talent as well as talent from around the Central West area.
