Expect delays on the Kidman WayMotorists along the Kidman Way can expect delays.

Travelling could be a little trickier as people head into and out of the western plains area for this year's summer holiday season.

For those passing through Cobar on a north-south route, Transport for NSW have issued a traffic alert advising motorists of changed traffic conditions from tomorrow, Saturday 18 December, on the Kidman Way at sites both north and south of Cobar due to road maintenance works.

Work will involve resealing various sections of the highway between 40 kilometres south and 49 kilometres north of Cobar.

Work is expected to take three days to complete, weather permitting, and will be carried by Cobar Shire Council starting on Saturday 18 December between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

Traffic control including single lane closures, intermittent stopping and reduced speed limits will be in place for the safety of motorists and workers.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.

For the latest traffic updates check Live Traffic NSW or call 132 701.

Tell your friends and fellow travellers that you can also check the region's Road Conditions in the Western Plains App for links to each local council's updated information.

This will be particularly relevant for those in the Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri and other northern areas where road closures are increasing due to floodwaters.
