Police have confirmed that a man died after his quadbike hit an animal on a rural road south of Nyngan on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to Plummers Road at Five Ways, about 70km south-west of Nyngan, shortly before 1am on Saturday 11 January 2025.,

They found a man, believed to be aged in his 60s, suffering critical head injuries.

He died at the scene a short time later.

Witnesses told police the man was riding along the road when his bike collided with a pig.

Officers attached to Central North Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.

The animal also died at the scene.
