Five people in regional NSW have been charged as part of an ongoing police investigation targeting the supply of prohibited drugs in the state’s west.
In April this year, detectives attached to Central North Police District and the Proactive Crime Team established Strike Force Progre to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in Bourke and surrounding townships.
Now a few months into its investigation, Strike Force Progre has begun making arrests across the state for various drug offences.
On Wednesday 16 June, a 28-year-old woman was arrested following a vehicle stop on Tarcoon Street, Bourke after police found and seized 9.1 grams of methylamphetamine during a search of the vehicle.
The woman was taken Bourke Police Station where she was charged with possess prohibited drug and supply prohibited drug – less than commercial quantity.
She was granted conditional bail at Bourke Local Court on Thursday 24 June and will reappear before the same court on Thursday 19 August 2021.
However, as investigations under Strike Force Progre continued, the same woman was arrested at a home on Meryula Street, Narromine, shortly after 11am on Monday 28 June.
She was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with 31 prohibited drug-related offences including supply and possession, supply unregistered firearm and knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime.
The woman was refused bail and will appear before Bourke Local Court on Thursday 22 July 2021.
About 4.30pm on Wednesday 16 June, police arrested a 31-year-old Girilambone man after finding and seizing more than 400g of cannabis during a vehicle search on Tarcoon Street, Bourke.
The man was taken to Bourke Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug – less than indictable quantity and possess prohibited drug.
Multiple offenders were arrested on cannabis-related charges.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Bourke Local Court on Thursday 22 July.
On Thursday 17 June, a search warrant was executed at a property on Johnsons Road, Girilambone, where police seized more than 14 kilograms of cannabis.
The occupant – a 55-year-old man – was arrested at the property and taken to Nyngan Police Station where he was charged with cultivate prohibited plant, supply prohibited drug, supply cannabis and possess prohibited drug.
He appeared before Nyngan Local Court on Monday 28 June where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before the same court on Monday 23 August.
A 32-year-old man was arrested at a home in Narromine on Monday 28 June and taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug and supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis.
He was formally refused bail at Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday 29 June, and will reappear before Bourke Local Court on Thursday 19 August.
Finally, a 31-year-old Dubbo woman was arrested at a home in Bourke on Saturday 3 July. She was taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug.
She was granted conditional bail and appeared before Bourke Local Court on Thursday 8 July.
Investigations under Strike Force Progre are continuing.
