Nyngan Town Hall smelt divine last weekend as the hall was filled with flowers and plants from all over the district for the annual and anticipated 2023 Flower Show.
Local garden enthusiasts crowded the hall to check out all the products of gardens in the area, oohing and aahhing at the array of different flowers and decorative arrangements.
Nyngan Garden Club President Mary Burley was happy with the day and loved seeing all the plants brought in to be judged.
“Despite entries being down due to the windy weather leading up to the day, we were happy with the event,” said Mrs. Burley.
“Our new section of best decorated hat was popular, with Julie Walsh taking out the first prize.”
Michelle Deacon won the overall Champion of the floral show and Champion Decorative with her succulent arrangement, while Will Marr won Champion exhibit in the cut flower section.
Champion Pot was won by Helen Rose with her beautiful pot of Hydrangea in flower and first-time exhibitor Rayne McGurn was winner of Champion rose with her exhibit of three exhibition roses.
Judges for the day, creatives and floral experts Melissa Salter and Tash Young, were impressed with what the area had to offer.
“The quality of flowers entered in the floral show were very impressive, considering the weather in the lead up to the show,” said Mrs. Young. “Despite the hot and cool crazy temperatures and the awful wind that came in, the flowers were still stunning, and the hard work that the Nyngan Garden Club always put in is something to be admired."
“It was such a pleasure to judge the flower show,” said Judge Melissa Salter. “Such high-quality flowers and plants exhibited were a testament to the dedication of our local gardeners, who throughout droughts and floods still maintain their beautiful gardens for the joy of themselves and others.”
The day was topped off with a great afternoon tea provided by the Garden Club Ladies and another fantastic community event for Bogan Shire.
