From Trangie to Paris

From a Kindergarten teacher with a jewellery hobby, to a business ‘Peggy & Twig’, Emily Quigley of Trangie never dreamt of Paris Fashion Week until a request landed in her inbox.

“We were contacted last December by Runway Selectors as part of Flying Solo’s “Ones to Watch” runway event, which highlights up-and-coming designers,” said Ms Quigley.

“We were asked to put forward a collection brief for Fashion Week of our necklaces, earrings and bracelets. After submitting our designs, we received the news we were one of 40 labels out of 500 who were chosen to present on a runway at Paris Fashion Week.

“We found out in January and proceeded to create a collection, by going back and forth, that would suit the apparel labels.”

The event, which is the largest independent show case of emerging designers, gave the western NSW creative the opportunity to present her work at the world’s most famous fashion event.

“Once on the ground in Paris we were running on adrenalin and momentum. We knew it would be hectic, but we had it all mapped out," Ms Quigley said.

“We really wanted to take all our followers and supporters on the journey with us, so we had a social media plan, and my assistant Tash Meys NZ photographer captured all the content.

“We have been working together for a little while and it was great to have her there. Our aim was to capture and post what was going on, in peak time Australia, as it was crucial to us to share our journey for everyone back home."

The Buy from the Bush campaign acted as a catalyst for the business during the drought and in 2022 Ms Quigley moved her business from home to town setting up an amazing space that showcased her designs in a stylish and upmarket way.

It has all been an amazing journey from the start to now and although we have no plans to go back to Paris, despite it being an amazing opportunity, we are really looking forward to whatever comes in the future and to working with our clients and making beautiful pieces for them to create memories with,” said Ms Quigley.
