A Gilgandra house went up in flames last night, with Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were called to the scene at 7:30pm.

A pumper and tanker from the Gilgandra Fire Station arrived at Waugan Street to find the house fully involved in fire, with the roof partially collapsed.

Firefighters were unable to enter into the blaze, instead fighting from the outside.

Gilgandra FRNSW Captain Lindsay Mathirson said that around 50 per cent of the house was destroyed.

“There’s partial roof collapse and a lot of internal damage, water damage and smoke damage” Captain Mathirson said.

Crews from Gilgandra and Dubbo attended the fire, with the flames extinguished at 9:20 last night.

The house was unoccupied at the time, with no residents to be harmed.

“It was a vacant Department of Housing house that was left unattended,” Captain Mathirson said.

NSW Police will commence investigations into the fire today. The fire is being treated as suspicious.
