Gulargambone sewage latest to show signs of covidCoonamble Shire Council is urging Gulargambone residents to get tested as covid fragments show up in sewage tests.

As sewage testing continues, covid virus fragments have now been detected in Gulargambone's sewage system.

Coonamble Shire Council has reminded residents that this is a completely separate system to the Coonamble sewage, where virus fragments were detected earlier last week.

Council is also negotiating to set up a Testing Clinic in Gulargambone but it is anticipated that this may be at least a couple of days away.

In the meantime, Gular residents are urged to continue to use the Testing Clinic at Coonamble Multi-Purpose Service (hospital).

Residents who are feeling okay are being asked to consider booking a vaccination at either the Coonamble Aboriginal Medical Service or Ochre Medical Centre.

If there is anyone in your household with even mild symptoms of covid, the Coonamble Testing Clinic is operating between 9am and 5pm including today (Sunday). Call ahead on 6822 9300.

All household members are encouraged to get tested and then isolate at home until test results are received. Food and other essentials can be delivered to your home.

On Friday 20 August, Coonamble Shire Council advised that they are co-ordinating with Resilience NSW to provide up to 600 hamper packs containing dry goods, hygiene products and personal protective equipment (PPE) including masks.

"These will be delivered to Coonamble in the next few days and the distribution details will be shared with you as we finalise our action plan," said Noreen Vu, Council's Executive Leader - Environment, Strategic Planning and Community.

"Under no circumstances are we accepting donations as the focus is to minimise movement across the area."

Distribution will be managed by Council's new Community Services Co-ordinator, Amanda Glasson.

Repeat testing of sewage will be carried out and results notified.
