Local boxer ready to rumble in the BunglesClayton Chatfield has been working hard in the ring after looking up to his uncle and icon Anthony Mundene.

Following in the footsteps of his uncle Anthony Mundine, Coonabarabran-born Clayton Chatfield is forging his path in the Australian boxing scene, and wants to see other locals do the same.

In October, 19-year-old Clayton will take to the International stage, where he’ll compete in the Australian team against Scotland on their home ground.

Until then, Clayton wants his home town to fall for the sport like he has.

“I had my first fight at 12 or 13, I fell in love with it when I would watch my uncle play,” Clayton said.

His answer for sharing his love of boxing is an ongoing local event - ‘Rumble in the Bungles’.

“My father and I are trying to inspire the kids to come and watch this fight night and become future stars,” he said.

Clayton has gathered a 13-strong line-up of people he’s met in the industry to showcase the sport, including himself and his brother.

While Coonabarabran has boxing facilities, Clayton said they’re often under-utilised.

“Not too many people go, everyone plays footy,” he said, despite being a big fan of rugby as well.

Rumble in the Bungles has already secured multiple sponsors in support of the event.

Clayton and his family have been fundraising in anticipation of the October fight in Scotland, where he’s hoping to change his status into a professional boxer.
