A man was charged in Bourke yesterday after he allegedly robbed another man with a knife.
Around 12:15am on Sunday 6 June, the 34-year-old went to a house on Short Street and demanded cash from the occupant, a man known to him.
"When the occupant of the home refused, the man allegedly threatened him with a knife before he complied and transferred funds to a bank account," a police spokesperson said.
"The occupant of the home was not injured."
Following inquiries, police went to a home on Hope Street, Bourke, around 5:40am the same day and arrested the 34-year-old.
He was taken to Bourke Police Station, where he allegedly escaped custody and was injured while jumping over a fence.
He was located a short time later in the rear yard of a business, where an ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital with ankle injuries.
He was transferred to Bourke Police Station about 10am the same day. He was charged with:
"Police also executed two outstanding arrest warrants for aggravated robbery and domestic violence-related offences," the spokesperson said.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Bourke Local Court the same day, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 22 August 2024.
