Man dead, another critical following crash in Walgett shireOfficers from the Central North Police District have commenced an investigation into a car crash resulting in the death of one man and leaving the other critically injured.

One man has died, and another is in a critical condition following a crash in the state’s central north.


About 2.30pm (Wednesday 27 July 2022), emergency services were called to Bugilbone Road, Burren Junction, following reports of a crash.


On arrival, officers attached to Central North Police District found a car had crashed and come to a stop on its side after ejecting the two male passengers.


A 23-year-old man and 21-year-old man were treated at the scene, but the 23-year-old could not be revived.


The 21-year-old was transferred to John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, in a critical condition.


Police established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.


A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
