A man was hospitalised in Coonamble on Monday afternoon after an alleged assault involving a machete.
Emergency services were called to a home in Bertram St, Coonamble at around 2pm on 28 October following reports of an assault.
A police spokesperson said officers attended and were told a group of people were allegedly involved in a verbal altercation before violence broke out.
“Police attended Coonamble Hospital and spoke with a 40-year-old man who sustained a serious laceration to his arm,” the spokesperson said.
“He was later taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition.
“A crime scene was established as an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.”
At around 9am that day, Police arrested a 30-year-old man at a home on Limerick Street in relation to the incident.
He was taken to Coonamble Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail and taken to appear before Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday 29 October.
The Police spokesperson said investigations are continuing.
