Man stabbed at Grawin airlifted to Tamworth

A 57-year-old man has been airlifted to Tamworth with stab wounds after a physical altercation at Grawin Opal Fields. 


Just after 12am Tuesday, 27 February, emergency services were called to Grawin Opal Fields following reports of a physical altercation between two men who were known to each other. 


The man in his 50s was treated at the scene and taken to Walgett Hospital before being airlifted to Tamworth Hospital. 



He was treated for stab wounds to his abdomen and serious facial injuries. 


A 36-year-old man was taken to Lightning Ridge Hospital for treatment for a serious injury to his hand. 


Following inquiries, the man in his 30s was arrested by officers from Central North Police District and was taken to Lightning Ridge Police Station. 


The man was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. 


He was refused bail to appear before Lightning Ridge Local Court today, 28 February.
