Coonamble-born country music talent Max Jackson took home, not one, but two Golden Guitars at the Tamworth Country Music Festival over the long weekend.

"I don't know if it has fully sunk at this point. It was a massive night of so many feelings, so much pride and lots of fun," Max said.

The singer-songwriter was crowned Female Artist of the Year and received the award of Single of the Year for her song "Little More Country" at the 53rd Golden Guitar Awards.

"I think country audiences can hear their story in the song which is also my story," Max said about her hit single.

Max was both performer and host at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Being a part of the festival is almost second nature to Max who has been attending since her childhood.

"I've been going to the festival for as long as I can remember. Growing up my mom and dad were massive country music fans and raised me to be as well."

Max celebrated big moments at the festival, including winning the Toyota Star Maker in 2020, and for the past two years, has been the ambassador of the festival.

Her inspiration comes from several female country music stars, including Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, and Gina Jeffreys.

Max has gone from fan to friend for several country music stars such as Lee Kernighan and Becky Cole.

"It's a crazy, full circle moment to win awards like I was winning on the weekend," she said.

Despite discovering many new musical influences, Max's heart has never strayed from country music.

"The only thing that's changed is the fact that now I'm getting to play on bigger stages and festivals," Max said.

In May, Max is embarking on her first headline tour and she hopes to visit her hometown again soon for another concert after performing at the Vision Splendid last October.

"I would absolutely love to get back home and play another show.

"It was such a wild experience to go home for Vision Splendid and have all the friends and family there."
