Among the 20 new cases identified in the Western Local Health District (LHD) up to 8pm on Friday 24 September, were two in Gilgandra - with the announcement coming just one day after they were released from lockdown.
Other shires with new cases in the Western Plains area include Bourke with six and Warrumbungle with four cases located in Mendooran. The remaining Western LHD cases are in Dubbo (6) and Cowra (2).
However authorities say no changes have been made to Stay-at-Home orders, with the Gilgandra, Narromine and the Warrumbungles shires remaining out of lockdown due to their cases being assessed as low risk.
Since the outbreak began there have been 1151 cases in the Western LHD but 193 of these are still considered 'active' cases.
Today's figures will have buoyed residents in the Walgett shire with no new cases announced.
As of Wednesday 22 September there were 29 people in care from Walgett shire and 18 from Bourke, although Bourke had already seen 30 people discharged from care in the previous week.
Vaccination rates across WNSWLHD have improved significantly in recent weeks and continue to climb with officials saying the increases are among the best in NSW and Australia.
In the Western Plains area as of 20 September, Coonamble had the highest rate of double vaccinated residents at 69% (89% first dose) while Gilgandra could take the lead in coming weeks with 93% of their shire having had their first dose (57% second dose.
