Dave Rose's home golf course in Nyngan seems to bring him good luck.

The 51-year-old won his second Sand Greens Championship on 14 October with a course record of a five under second round of five under par for a six under par total.

Ahead a colossal ten strokes of Finley's Ian Armour Junior.

Mr Rose scored his first Sand Green Championship in 2021 also in his hometown.

The Nyngan golf course has a special place in Mr Rose's heart. "It just has a really good layout. It's got some nice challenging holes.

"You get a lot of risk and reward shots," he said. "If you nail your shot, you get the reward but go a bit wayward and you pay the price."

Mr Rose has been playing golf nearly his whole life, starting at 12 after moving to Nyngan from Victora.

"I was always an AFL kid growing up and realized they didn't have AFL here so I had to take up another sport."

The championships ran over two days and attracted amateur golf players from across NSW.

Mr Rose tries to fit in at least one practice session per week between his work as an underground supervisor at a processing plant.

Around 135 players hit the green in the competition, from throughout NSW.

The net winner, Graham Tomek, also hailed from Nyngan.

Joey Walker won the Junior Sand Greens Championship.

Brian Jenner from the Kew Golf Club won the NSW Veteran's Sand Greens Championship held the same weekend.

Mr Rose also won the team title for Nyngan with his son Shane and Mitchell Williams.

"It was good for him to play with people from other places," Mr Rose said about his son.

"It's all about having a good time with your mates."

Next year's Sand Green Championship will be held in Barraba.
