Before voters turned out today to take their final chance to have their say on who will govern New South Wales for the next four years, almost a third of enrolled voters in the Barwon electorate have already cast their vote.
As at 9am today (Saturday 25 March 2023), in the Barwon electorate 16,220 people had taken advantage of pre-polling sites and 700 postal votes had already been returned making 31.27% out of a total of 54,093 eligible voters.
In the Dubbo electorate, which includes Narromine 44% of enrolled participants have already voted with 24,897 voting early and 414 postal votes received from a total enrolment of 56,536.
The results of the Western Plains App pre-election poll are in and show a clear statement of priorities from survey respondents.
We gave app users the opportunity to tell us what their 'hot button issues' were during the final days of voting in the NSW Government election which draws to a close today (Saturday 25 March).
All responses came from the Barwon electorate, with readers from Cobar, Coonabarabran, Coonamble, Gilgandra, Nyngan and Warren areas taking a couple of minutes to share their top issues.
When it comes to the needs of their communities, health services were ranked well ahead with 40% of readers marking it as a key election issue.
This was followed by economic development and tourism with 30%, reducing crime 20% and conservation and the environment 10%.

Closer to home, readers were asked to nominate their top issues for themselves and their families.

In this regard, the rising cost of living is clearly top of mind with 80% of readers ticking that box.
Respondents also mentioned aged care services and nurse to patient ratios of 1:3 as matters which will influence their thinking as they vote.
No responses were received from readers in the Dubbo electorate.
