It is uncertain how long the closure will last for [IMAGE: KELSI DAVIS]The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has closed the Pilliga Forest and the Warrumbungle National Park to visitors on Wednesday 22 October.
Due to extreme fire danger conditions, the NPWS has closed all visitor areas in the Pilliga state forest.
This includes the Sandstone Caves, Sculptures in the Scrub visitor and camping area, Salt Caves visitor and camping area and the Pilliga Forest Lookout Tower.
Additionally, the Warrumbungle National Park has closed some walking tracks and remote campsites due to forecast fire danger.
The only tracks and campsites that will remain open on Wednesday are the White Gum Lookout Trail, the Wambelong Nature Trail, Gurianawa Circuit, Camp Blackman, Camp Wambelong and Camp Walaay.
