Trundle Police officers are investigating a brazen incident of fuel theft on Forbes Street, leading to strong warnings for land holders about a rise in theft due to increasing fuel prices.
It was alleged that on Tuesday 12 May, $300 worth of diesel was siphoned from a vehicle parked on Forbes Street in Trundle, which police are currently investigating.
The incident, however, is not unfamiliar to police in the Central West District in recent times.
"Unfortunately, the price of fuel has caused an upward trend in fuel theft, failing to pay at service stations, stolen cars, things like that," said Inspector Peter Atkins.
With diesel prices soaring over $2.00 a litre, the Central West Police District are warning everyone to take extra measures to protect their vehicles and on-property fuel supplies.
Officers in the Central West Police District ask that landholders who have fuel reserves on their properties utilise camera surveillance and good, serviceable locks to prevent access.
Trundle Police ask that if anyone has any information about this particular incident they contact the Trundle Police Station on 02 6895 6640 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 00.
