Police in pursuit of ambulance thievesThe chase is on for persons who stole an ambulance and Holden Commodore from two separate properties in Bourke overnight and early this morning. Both vehicles have since been recovered.

Police are currently seeking persons alleged to be involved in the theft of multiple vehicles in Bourke, including an ambulance.


Just before 12.30am today (Thursday 14 October 2021), an aggravated break and enter occurred at a home on Mitchell Street, Bourke, where a Holden Commodore was stolen.


A second home in Brewarrina was broken into later that morning, just before 5.15am, and an ambulance vehicle was stolen from the premises.


Officers from Central North Police District responded and sighted the ambulance vehicle travelling on the Kamilaroi Highway towards Bourke.


The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated travelling to Bourke where the vehicle was abandoned on Becker and Tudor Streets.


The occupants fled and a police operation is underway to locate them.


The Holden and the ambulance have since been recovered.
