Police seek information on suspicious fire in Lightning RidgeVision release by NSW Police of a man they want to speak to about a suspicious building blaze in Lightning Ridge.


etectives are appealing for information following what they now say is a suspicious building fire in Lightning Ridge last month.


Officers attached to Central North Police District were conducting patrols of the Lightning Ridge township about 1am on Saturday 24 January 2026, when they came across a building fully alight on Sunflash Street.


Additional emergency services were called, and the fire was extinguished.


The building was destroyed, with no injuries reported.


Investigators attached to Central North Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Aumsville.


As inquiries continue, police would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries. He is described as being of Caucasian in appearance, 180cm tall, in his mid-20s, of thin build, and wearing a black t-shirt, grey shorts and black slides-style footwear.
