Popular TV show seeks out local farmersNarromine farmer, Andrew, found love in the last series of Farmer Wants a Wife, and producers of the next series are calling out for local applicants.

Narromine, and the Western Plains in general, was put firmly on the Farmer Wants a Wife map last season, with local man, Andrew leaving the series early after finding love with Claire.

Andrew is a mixed crop and sheep farmer who attends a local gym a couple of times a week and said he enjoys music, saying it can "take you to another place."

At the time of his audition for Farmer Wants a Wife, Andrew said he wanted to increase the population of Narromine by one and has apparently achieved that with all reports saying the union is going well after Claire moved to the local area from Tasmania.

As for adjusting to life, post-filming, Claire admitted to 7Life that things were difficult at first.

"It was a strange situation we found ourselves in because there was the camera there and then all of a sudden you’re like, ‘Well, what do we do now?'"

At the Farmer Wants a Wife reunion, shown on TV after all farmers had found love - a first for the series - Andrew admitted that he and Claire had "hit a bit of a snag."

"She was out horse riding with some friends and it resulted in her being airlifted to hospital," he said.

"She's okay, she's recovering. It was a shock initially and it reinforced those feelings that I had - and cemented those feelings I guess. Sometimes it might take that sort of thing to happen to make you realise, I am in love with Claire."

So, while true love doesn't always run smoothly, there can be a happy ending and now producers of the series are calling for a new stable of eligible contestants and have their eye on the Western Plains, reaching out to local groups for hot tips on new contestants.

"Our office has been contacted by the producers of Farmer Wants a Wife," a spokesperson from Lachlan and Western Regional Services (LWRS) in Condobolin said. "They are on the hunt for the next group of farmers looking for love, and we would love to see our community represented. If you, or anyone you know would be interested, please reach out and we will put you in contact with the casting crew."

Keen to see some local involvement, LWRS posted a cheeky reminder on social media that any local farmers looking for the 'love of their life/ gate opener/ snuggle bunny/ farmhand/ chaser bin driver" should contact them so they can pass on details to the casting producer of the popular show.

Their post prompted plenty of interest with more than a few local names suggested as likely candidates.

While applications for Farmer Wants a Wife are still open, the LWRS has another suggestion to find love, if being in the public eye isn't your thing - taking part in their "Golf with mates" event on this Sunday, 18th June. It's a free event and part of the Lachlan Suicide Prevention Project Initiative.

"If Farmer Wants a Wife isn’t your style, maybe you’ll meet your future match on the greens? Sign up or miss your chance at sweet, golfing romance," a spokesperson said.
