Essential Energy says crews worked throughout the night as outages continue in Collarenebri and Cumborah along with patches in Warren and Narromine shires.

As at 9am today, more than 800 customers were without power due to storm damage across Narromine, Nyngan, Cobar and surrounding areas, including more than 500 in the Walgett area.

Numbers of those affected have varied throughout the last 24 hours because some areas had power restored while others were hit by more storm activity.

"A further 3800 customers in Nyngan and Bourke and surrounding areas were also without power from around 8.30am this morning," an Essential Energy spokesperson said.

"Crews immediately commenced a patrol of the network to determine the cause however no fault was found. After ensuring it was safe to do so, power was progressively restored for those customers by 10.30am."

"Essential Energy crews are on call 24/7 and work to restore power to our communities as soon as it is safe. Essential Energy thanks customers for their understanding and patience."

According to the company's outages map, power went out in Collarenebri at around 6pm last night, affecting 451 customers including the local post office.

Licensee Carol Colly said that power was still offline when she left the area at about 10:30am this morning.

She also said the post office had been forced to close.

"I have two staff that were there this morning to tidy the mail up, which the contractor picks up, but there's nothing they can do customer-wise or by serving on the counter," she said.
