State Covid-19 case numbers have surged following the first day of mandatory reporting of rapid antigen tests (RATs), however the numbers aren’t an accurate depiction of daily case numbers.
Following the state government’s release of technology to report positive RATs through the Service NSW app, - where, under public health orders, people who don’t report can be fined up to $1000 - NSW Health has reported a total of 92,264 positive cases in their daily update, made up of both positive RATs and PCR tests.
Of those cases, however, the 61,387 positive RATS aren’t indicative of the daily total, but of those recorded since January 1, the date which the NSW Premier yesterday asked people to register their cases from.
30,877 of those cases are from PCR tests that were taken up to 8pm yesterday.
As of yet, data from registered RATs for each health district isn’t available.
From PCR tests, the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) reported 552 of covid-19 up to 8pm last night.
51 of those cases were identified in shires across the Western Plains.
Of those cases, two were in the Bogan Shire, two in Bourke, one in Brewarrina, nine in Cobar, two in Coonamble, one in Gilgandra, seven in the Lachlan, 12 in Narromine, five in Walgett, two in Warren, and eight in the Warrumbungle Shire.
