A missing man was found in the Pilliga Forest after a medical condition left him disorientated after leaving his vehicle.

Around 6pm on Monday 7 November, emergency crews were called to conduct a search party after a vehicle was found 100 metres off the road in a thick forest area 35 kilometres north of Coonabarabran.

SES Crews and the Coonabarabran Rescue Squad conducted a search, extending the perimeter after there was no trace of anyone near the vehicle.

“To make use of the remaining daylight, the search resumed by use of 4WD vehicles and our side by side ATV to cover as much area as possible,” Coonabarabran Rescue Squad reported.

At approximately 8pm, the man was found lying in ‘very thick bush land’.

He was found conscious but dehydrated.

According to the Coonabarabran Rescue Squad, the man was stretchered out with the help of police and the Baradine SES back to the command post where he was treated by ambulance.
