Rivers face minor flooding west of BourkeDrivers are urged to be cautious of road conditions.

The SES has warned that several areas west of Bourke should monitor conditions, with minor flooding occurring along the Paroo and Warrego Rivers.

The Paroo River at Willara Crossing may peak near 2.40 metres over the coming weekend, with minor flooding, while the Paroo River at Wanaaring is likely to reach around 2.80 metres mid next week, with minor flooding.

While the warning level remains low, the SES has advised that both areas may be impacted by flood waters.

“Willara Crossing will be closed to all vehicles (while) inundation of farmland begins upstream of Wanaaring,” a statement from SES said.

“Property owners should consider moving livestock, pumps and equipment.”

Meanwhile, minor flooding continues along the Warrego River at Fords Bridge Bywash, which has reached 2.06 metres and is rising slowly.

Water levels surpassed minor flood level at 1.70 metres, and is expected to peak early next week at 2.20 metres.

Flooding of low lying areas and roads along and adjacent to the river are expected.

“Never drive, walk, ride through, play or swim in flood water - it is dangerous, toxic, and may void your car insurance,” the SES said.

“If it's flooded, forget it.”

Peak forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed at Caiwarro and Hungerford.
