Four teenagers have been charged over a break-in at a Bourke motel overnight.
Just after 1am on Saturday 30 July, a woman was asleep at a motel on Mertin Street in Bourke when a person gained access to her room through a bathroom window, opening the door to allow access by others waiting outside.
Four people – with their faces concealed - allegedly entered the room and stole personal items before attempting to force entry to a second motel room.
They were unsuccessful and fled the scene.
Officers from Central North Police District were alerted and soon arrested five teenagers hiding in bushland on nearby Anson Street.
They were all taken to Bourke Police Station where four boys – three aged 15 and a 16-year-old – were charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company and steal, aggravated break and enter dwelling in company - intend steal, face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence.
They were refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Sunday 31 July 2022)
A 14-year-old girl was released pending further investigations.
