Locals have recorded huge rainfalls on the back of a severe thunderstorm warning for the North West Slopes and Plains, allowing flood waters to return to already sodden ground.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the Western Plains, where damaging winds and heavy rainfall could affect the surrounding areas of Walgett, Coonamble, Baradine and Coonabarabran.

Another Baradine local, Nic Dewson, recorded a fall of 116 millimetres by 7am this morning.
Further towards Coonabarabran, heavy falls saw the rise of water across the Baradine Road, causing it’s closure.
Local David Walter John Collins reported that the road quickly flooded despite low rainfall in the area, with an already waterlogged ground causing the water to run straight across.
Rainfall has been ongoing to the North of Coonamble, ‘Cudgewa’ on the Billeroy Road reported a fall of 70 millimetres just this morning.
Further along the road, the property ‘Orara’ recorded 37 millimetres this morning, followed by 17 millimetres this afternoon as the showers continue.
Towards Come-By-Chance on the Hollywood Lane, 'Waimea' also recorded 37 millimetres.
Across the Western Plains there are predictions for more rain to come, with 80 per cent chance of 20-40 millimetres due at Bourke, 90 per cent chance of 20-40 millimetres at Coonamble, and 70 per cent chance of 20-40 millimetres at Coonabarabran.
As the storm warnings continue, locals are urged to check their local council sites for updates on road closures. (David Walter John Collins)
As the weather warning continues, predicting flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours, the Bureau of Meteorology has advised people to move their cars away from trees, secure items, and call for emergency help where necessary on 132 500.
