A teenage male was airlifted out of Coonamble on Sunday afternoon 4 May after suffering a serious self-inflicted hand injury during a domestic incident.
The Western Plains News app understands he approached a residential property in the township where he smashed a front window with his fist.
In the process his arm was cut by the glass, causing serious lacerations and bleeding.
He was taken to Coonamble Multipurpose Health Service, where he was stabilised by hospital staff.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked at 3pm to transfer him John Hunter Hospital where he was expected to undergo surgery and remains in a stable condition.
No other people were reported injured.
