Teens charged after Bourke break-ins

A 15 and 17-year-old boy were charged on Saturday following an investigation into at least two alleged break-ins in Bourke.

 

Around 12pm on 22 June police were called to Oxley Street following reports a caravan had been broken into.

 

Around 1:45pm the same day, police were then called to an alleged break-in at a home on Wortumurtie Street.


 

"Officers attended and allegedly observed three teenage boys exiting the property," a police spokesperson said.

 

"Following a short foot pursuit, two males, aged 15 and 17 were arrested and taken to Bourke Police Station.

 

"The 15-year-old was charged with destroy or damage property, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal <=$60000 and face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence.

 

"The 17-year-old was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal <=$60000."

 

Both teenagers were given conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 15 July 2024.

 

Police were also called to a sports club in Central Park after reports of a break-in.

 

Police spoke to five children aged under ten in relation to that incident.
