Teens charges with Gil moto theft

Two teenagers have been charged over an alleged home break-in at Gilgandra this week.

Police said they received multiple calls from community members about three motorcyclists riding dangerously around Waugan Street at around 3:30pm on 15 May.

The riders left the scene before officers arrived.

At around 4:35pm on the same day, police took a report of an alleged break and enter where three motorcycles were allegedly stolen from a home on Naden Street between 13 and 14 May.

"Following further inquiries, police attended a home in Gilgandra and arrested two 15-year-old boys and recovered the three motorbikes," a police spokesperson said.

"They have been charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner; they’ve been given conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday 7 July."

The spokesperson said inquiries are continuing under Operation Soteria.
